 FAQ

I want to monitor one message in more than two devices.

A registered alarm message can be used by more than two connected devices or PLC's. Set up the device names in columns. When an alarm occurs, the displayed alarm message will include the name of the device where the error occurred.

NOTE
- The maximum number of units that can be set per block is 256.
- When any one of monitoring devices that have the same alarm message meets the trigger condition, an alarm message is displayed.
- Unit names can be up to 32 single-byte characters in length.
- Messages from the Text Table can be set for unit names as well as alarm messages. In this case, unit names can be up to 32 single-byte characters in length.
- When setting the number of the [Message] of the Display Characters in the Alarm part settings, add the number of characters of the unit name.

■ Setup Procedure
This section explains how to set up GP-Pro EX to use the Function Expansion Memory.

1. Select [Alarm] in the [Common Settings] menu.

2. The [Alarm] setting screen will open. Select the block that you have registered messages. (e.g.: blocks1)

3. Set the [Alarm Type] to "Extended". The input field of [Number of Units] appears. Enter the number of devices or link units that you are connecting to. (e.g.: 3 units)

NOTE
To expand the number of alarm messages, the Function Expansion Memory setting is required.
See I want to register more than 2048 alarm messages. (Alarm Expansion) for details.

4. Enter each unit's name on the title line and monitoring addresses with which alarm messages are to be shared. Adding an underbar after the title name helps you to see alarm messages clearly. (e.g.: No1_ )

5. The unit names are appended before the alarm messages.
