Free download service of the communication driver for OMRON’s newest controller, Sysmac NJ Series, is available

Posted: September 2, 2011

Brief

Pro-face, the global leader of Human Machine Interface (HMI) and factory data communication solutions, announced the release of a communication driver of the GP3000 Series which supports OMRON Corporation’s new machine automation controller, “Sysmac NJ Series” (hereinafter the NJ Series). Pro-face has become the first HMI manufacturer offering the communication driver for the NJ Series equipped with Intel Atom. With this communication driver, Pro-face GP3000 Series and the NJ Series can be connected without any program. The communication driver is available through a free download service from Pro-face’s website.

There is a growing trend worldwide, especially in the motion control business, to open the structure of programming software to comply with the global standard “IEC61131-3”. Previously, engineers working in industrial automation had to learn the specifications of the programming languages that individual manufacturers offer. However, complying with the standard allows you to immediately utilize programming techniques taught at school, contributing to reducing educational costs and ensuring human resources. Also, the transition of programming from a hardware basis to software basis allows memory devices to be used as variables; therefore, it is becoming possible to perform user application software development regardless of manufacturer or model, and reuse its assets.

By supporting the variables, Pro-face HMI allows you to directly access the variables in the NJ Series, and it leads to remarkable time-saving to develop machines. In addition, Ethernet is used for communication between the high-speed processing NJ Series and multiple HMI units to provide high-speed, large-capacity communication.

Pro-face has already provided “IEC61131-3”-compliant products since 1996 and has early on provided the connection to Siemens’ PLCs, which support variables. Our goal in our early response to the worldwide trend with HMI to open in machine automation is to increase sales.

Digital’s GP3000 Series

Features

  • Able to access HMI with variables which are a main feature of OMRON’s NJ Series. No need to input variables twice, with the ability to take them from the Automation Software “Sysmac Studio” into the screen editing software “GP-Pro EX” by copying and pasting.
  • Ethernet/IP is used as a protocol for high-speed and large-capacity communication with multiple HMIs.
  • Users of GP-Pro EX and the GP3000 Series can access a free download service for the supported driver for the protocol from Pro-face’s support site, “Otasuke Pro”.
