Brief

The major manufacture*1 in touch-screen operator terminals, Pro-face is pleased to announce that 6 of the GP3000 models have been approved as vessel standard for 6 countries. The vessel standard is an international classification standard which provides performance condition for various equipment used with ships.

However, the GP3000 Series which utilizes touch-panel technology has currently only been used in the FA field. The touch-panel industry is a rapidly developing market and is attracting interest from such areas as vessels in Europe. Therefore Pro-face felt it appropriate for future development to acquire the vessel standard.

The acquired standards are ABS (North America), BV (France), DNV (Denmark), GL (Germany), LR (U.K.), and RINA (Italy), a total of 6 countries.

  1. Source: The share of displays with touch-panels (programmable display) is 39.2% in Japan. The panel computer’s share is 44.3% in Japan (2007 Fuji Keizai, Mechatronic Parts). The share for Touch screen operator terminals is 22.9% in the world (IMS research in 2006).
