Notes for using PS-3700A series

Thank you very much for your continuous use of Pro-face products.
We have confirmed that the following symptom has been seen in PS-3700A Series.
The symptom for this problem are indicated below.

Outline

PS-3700A series have two slots of PCMCIA slot.
These cannot be operated simultaneously in the configuration that is shipped due to lack of IRQ (Interrupt ReQuest) .

Target Customers

The customers using PS-3700A series.

Targeted OS

PS-3700A Pentium® 4 model Windows® 2000, Windows® XP
PS-3700A Eden™ model Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, Windows® XP Embedded
PS-3701A Windows® XP, Windows® XP Embedded

Occurrences

- Blue screen (and PS-3700A reboots)
- The second PCMCIA card has "!" mark when starting device manager.

Solution

® 4 model>
BIOS setting will be changed; one of Onboard Serial Ports is to be disabled.
   1. Open BIOS set-up window by keeping pressing [Del] key.
   2. Start menu of "Integrated Peripherals"
   3. Set one of Onboard Serial Ports from 1 to 4 [Disabled]
   4. Save the setting by pressing [F10].


(Windows® 2000)
BIOS setting will be changed; one of Onboard Serial Ports is to be disabled.
   1. Open BIOS set-up window by keeping pressing [Del] key.
   2. Start menu of "Integrated Peripherals".
   3. Set one of Onboard Serial Ports from 1 to 4 [Disabled].
   4. Save the setting by pressing [F10].

(Windows® XP, Windows® XP Embedded)
BIOS setting will be changed; either COM3 or COM4 is to be disabled.
   1. Open BIOS set-up window by keeping pressing [Del] key.
   2. Start menu of "Integrated Peripherals".
   3. Set either Onboard Serial Port 3 or 4 [Disabled].
   4. Save the setting by pressing [F10].



(Windows® XP, Windows® XP Embedded)
BIOS setting will be changed; both IPQ10 and 11 is set [Legacy ISA].
   1. Open BIOS set-up window by keeping pressing [Del] key.
   2. Start menu of "PnP/PCI Configuration".
   3. Change "Resource Controlled By" in "PnP/PCI Configuration" [Menu].
   4. Point the cursor to [Press Enter] in IRQ Resources, and press Enter.
   5. Change [IRQ-10 assigned to] and [IRQ-11 assigned to] to [Legacy ISA].
   6. Save the setting by pressing [F10].
