This manual describes safety symbols and terms for the correct and safe operation of Pro-Server EX.Read carefully this manual and all related manuals to understand the correct operation and features of Pro-Server EX.

UNINTENDED EQUIPMENT OPERATION

  • Touch panel switches should NOT be used to make a switch that could result in human injury or equipment damage. Trouble with the display unit, units, and cables which keep the output ON or OFF could result in a serious accident. An output signal that could result in a serious accident must be equipped with a monitoring circuit such as a limiter. Please design the system so that important operation switches are handled by equipment other than the display unit. This will prevent potential accidents as a result of incorrect output or malfunctions.

  • Touch panel switches should NOT be used for a device's Emergency Stop Switch. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare requires all industrial machinery/systems must be equipped with a mechanical, manually operate emergency stop switch. Also, for other kinds of systems, similar mechanical switches must be provided to ensure safe operation of those systems.

  • Do NOT allow data input that trigger unintended operations that could result in human injury or equipment damage. Design the system so that important operation commands are handled by equipment other than the personal computer running Pro Server EX. This should prevent potential accidents as a result of incorrect output or malfunction.

  • Pro-Server EX should NOT be used for a device's or system Emergency Stop Switch. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare as well as the European machine directive requires all industrial machinery/systems must be equipped with a mechanical, manually operate emergency stop switch. Also, for other kinds of systems, similar mechanical switches must be provided to ensure safe operation of those systems.

  • Do not use Pro-Server EX to control machine safety operations. Emergency stop switches and the like should be installed as separate hardware switches.

  • Be sure to design your system so that a communication interruption between Pro-Server EX and the display unit or host controller will not cause equipment to malfunction. This is to prevent any possibility of body injury or equipment damage.

  • Do not use Pro-Server EX as a warning device for critical alarms that can cause serious operator injury, machine damage or halt system operation. Critical alarm indicators and their control/activation units must be designed using stand-alone hardware and mechanical interlocks.

  • Do not use Pro-Server EX with aircraft control devices, aerospace equipment, central trunk data transmission (communication) devices, nuclear power control devices, or medical life support equipment, due to their inherent requirement for extremely high levels of safety, redundancy and reliability. Do not use for these purposes.

  • Do not use Actions to control systems that can cause serious injury or death.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH

  • Do not disassemble or modify the personal computer. Doing so may cause fire or an electric shock.

  • Do not operate the personal computer in an environment where it has not been designed for, for details please check with the personal computer vendor. This may cause an explosion.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

HEARING DAMAGE

  • Pro-Server EX installation disk is a DVD-ROM. Never play the DVD-ROM on an audio DVD player. Unexpected volume can cause hearing problems or speaker damage.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in injury or equipment damage.

  • Do not change the contents of this product's project files using Text Editor software. The project files could be damaged as a result.

  • When archiving data, please be careful of the following to prevent the loss of important data.

    • Data loss may occur accidentally due to storage device defects. Please back up data periodically on an external storage device. Once data is lost, it cannot be recovered.

    • When saving data or accessing stored data, do not remove the power, or disconnect external storage. You may damage the integrity of the files or the external storage.

    • When the archieved data is of great importance, please consider adding a UPS to the personal computer that would allow to overcome short power supply issues and prevent the damage to data and files.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
