Pro-face, the global leader in Human Machine Interface (HMI) and factory data communication solutions will soon release a new wireless-capable model to the SP500 Series lineup. “Smart Portal” products are designed to easily connect information from various types of control equipment incorporated in devices at manufacturing sites to production management information used in the office.
In recent years, developments in wireless convenience and technology have resulted in an increased adoption of wireless solutions, even in production sites that were hesitant to adopt wireless capabilities due to concerns of reliability and security. Until now, building a wireless environment in manufacturing sites prone to high concentrations of dust and dirt resulted in constraints on wireless LAN router selection and installation location. In Pro-face’s new product, a wireless antenna is built into the bezel (frame) portion, which has obtained a variety of environmental standards, thus eliminating any effort in selecting and installing a wireless LAN router as well as any concerns about failures due to on-site dust and dirt. Use this one product in place of the industrial computers and HMIs usually used for configuring device operation settings and get the wireless environment suited for your site.

Main Features of the SP5000 Series Wireless LAN Model
1. Increased debugging efficiency in a wireless environment when starting up the device or during maintenance
When installing a device to a manufacturing site, adjustment and verification at startup or when debugging are performed with connecting a laptop. However, with various components and devices in the factory, there’s no place to install the laptop, and it’s often the case that if the control panel is not open, connecting the cable to the PC can be difficult. To solve such problems, using this product means debugging can be performed anywhere, enabling the work to be carried out efficiently.
2. Reduces the need for cables to connect devices to the network
When a new device is installed, a cable is usually run to the ceiling in order to take advantage of the device’s data and incorporate it into the existing network. However, doing so requires effort and cost. With devices that use this product for an interface, that effort and cost becomes unnecessary. Also, with a wireless environment, rearranging for factory lines and cell production is simple.
3. Easily utilize remote monitoring through tablets and smartphones
Pro-face’s specialized industrial remote monitoring application, Pro-Face Remote HMI, is designed for use on tablets and smartphones. By combining this application with the SP5000 Series wireless model, you can check production statuses and device statuses via tablet or smartphone anywhere and at any time, all without installing a router.
4. Secure compatibility with control networks thanks to a wireless IP address
By assigning a wireless IP address, wireless devices connected to SP5000 Series products and equipment control devices can be managed on separate networks. This means wireless devices can be installed in manufacturing sites with no need to worry about the impact on control systems related to manufacturing.
5. Other features
- The adoption of a multi-touch display with excellent visibility and operability enables operation at the actual equipment similar to that of a tablet.
- The module’s structure adopts a modular design that separates the display and the body, making it possible to replace just the display or just the box. This makes maintenance easy and quick.
- Because the product uses Windows applications, PDF manuals and troubleshooting guides created with Excel can be used with no conversion.
- The wireless model is also equipped with two Ethernet ports. Using the SP5000 as a gateway, you can physically segment office and factory networks, allowing for secure network creation.
- Offering drivers that enable connection to various equipment with no programming, this product makes it possible to easily establish connections with a wide variety of devices.
- This product has earned a variety of international safety standards, including IP65F, IP66F, and IP67F, ensuring confident usability in environments with dust, water spray, or oil mist.
