[Supplementary Documents] Corresponding to Chinese version of RoHS

Posted: 2007, March 16

RoHS Directive has been put in force in Europe since July, 2006 and exporting products that contain the specified 6 substances is controlled. Whether our products are within the range of the regulation or not, we have started to manufacture products that correspond to the regulations of the Europe RoHS Directive as our production policy.
In addition, Chinese version of RoHS has been put in force since March 1, 2007 in China. The Chinese RoHS is different from the Europe RoHS Directive and devices for monitor/control, which are sold in China are also applicable.

The following will describe summary of regulations of the Chinese RoHS.

1. The regulation values of the specified 6 substances are the same as the Europe RoHS's. (See the table below.). However, unlike the Europe RoHS Directive, according to the Chinese RoHS, if the value is beyond the regulation values, it's necessary to disclose information on the contained substance in the instructions.
Also, it's basically necessary to display a mark that shows the contained substances on a product. However, as for displaying the mark, if it's judged that the mark is not necessary after discussion with the ordering party, it can be omitted.

  6 hazardous substances (ppm)
Lead
(Pb)
Mercury
(Hg)
Cadmium
(Cd)
Hexavalent chromium
(Cr+6)
Polybrominated
Biphenyl
(PBB)
Polybrominated
Biphenylether
(PBDE)
Eu RoHS 1000 1000 100 1000 1000 1000
China RoHS 1000 1000 100 1000 1000 1000

(Caution) The regulation value of the both directives is the same. However, as for the Europe RoHS directive, for example, mercury used in CFL, lead contained in copper metal, semiconductor parts using high-temperature melting solder, SMD parts of which glass contains lead and so on are not applicable. However, as for the Chinese RoHS, there's no exception. That's the difference.

2. It's necessary to display the recycling mark on the packaging material. However, as for products provided as a part, the provider does not have to display the mark on them.
-->Therefore, we judge that our products are parts to be mounted and do not display the mark.

Our products contain lead and mercury of which values exceed the regulation value stated above. Therefore, we will implement the following thing.

- Disclosing information of the specified 6 substances and the distinguishing mark in the instruction book (The insertion sheet will be put in the package.)

At the time of entry of your products in China, you may be asked if the products are applicable to the Chinese RoHS or not. Please read the following three items and be prepared.

1.   If you export products to your customer in China, please ask your customer if the distinguishing mark and information of the specified 6 substances are needed for the products.
2.   If you ship our products as they are to China, it'll be necessary to disclose the information.
3.   If you export your products using our products directly to China, you have to check if you need to correspond to the Chinese RoHS directive about the products. If so, please cope with it.
If you need this information, please contact our sales staff.

We judge that the repair parts for the case that our products used in China are broken are exempt from the Chinese RoHS.

Finally, we will explain the mark used for our products that are targets of the Chinese RoHS.
Mark on products
Chinese RoHS Mark
This mark means that the product contains above the threshold value.
China published in 2006/2/28 "Measures for the Administration on Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products"
"Substances and Maximum Concentration Values"(SJ/T11363-2006)
"Marking for the control of pollution caused by EIP"(SJ/T11364-2006)

The Environmentally Friendly Use Period (EFUP) is also indicated (number inside the circle, that covers the products and all their parts.)
EFUP of our products are 15 years.
However, components that are changed regularly are to be excluded from this calculation.
That is the case for certain field-replaceable parts that may have a different EFUP (for example, battery modules) and so are marked.
