23.9.1 Procedure - Registering fingerprints using the Fingerprint Recognition Setting Tool

Register your fingerprint in the password settings and update the EZ fingerprint recognition unit database.

You can login at the set security level when the fingerprint registered in the display unit password settings matches the fingerprint registered in the EZ fingerprint recognition unit database.

  1. Insert the GP-Pro EX installation DVD-ROM into the CD/DVD drive of your PC and the Fingerprint Recognition Setting Tool will install.

  2. In GP-Pro EX, from the [Common Settings] menu point to [Security] and select [Security Password], or click .

  3. Place a check mark in [Enable Security Function] and [Add User ID].

  4. Sets the security level. Refer to the following for the setting method.

  5. Save the Security Data settings in a folder of your choice. From [Utility], select [Export] - [Fingerprint recognition setup tool] and save the security file (*.bin)

  6. Connecting the EZ fingerprint recognition unit to a computer starts the fingerprint recognition setup tool. From the [Start] menu of your computer, click [Pro-face] - [Fingerprint Recognition Setting Tool].

  7. Opens the security data saved in [Password Settings] using the Fingerprint Recognition Setting Tool. Click on [Open] from the tool bar to select the saved data.

  8. In the displayed dialogue box, by inputting [User ID] and [Password], a list of the set security levels are displayed.

    • Information indicating the lower-level security of users logged in is displayed. To login again, click [Re-login] from the tool bar.

  9. Place a check mark in [Fingerprint] for the fingerprint of the registered user. Register the fingerprint following the displayed message prompts.

    • It is necessary to register two fingerprints per each user. You will need to place your finger on the EZ fingerprint recognition unit sensor three times to register one fingerprint.

  10. From the Tool menu, click [Save] after registering the required fingerprint.

  11. Import the security data of the registered fingerprint into GP-Pro EX. From [Set Password], select [Utility] - [Import], then select the file saved using the fingerprint recognition setup tool.

    • Security data that was saved with the fingerprint recognition setup tool can also be imported directly to the display unit. Security data is saved to external storage and importing is performed using system variable #H_SecurityBackupControl.

  12. The project is transferred to the display unit connected to the EZ fingerprint recognition unit.

  13. Update the EZ fingerprint recognition unit database connected to the display unit. Set bit 1 for the system variable #H_SecurityFingerprintControl to 0 and turn bit 0 from OFF to ON.

    • Touch operation is not available while updating the EZ Fingerprint Recognition Unit database. However, you can operate the system menu.
