Setting Up a User for the Remote Printer Server

Prepares a user account for a remote printer server.

A user for Remote Printer Server needs to be given Administrator permissions and [Login as a Service] authority.

Use the following procedure to set [Login as a Service] authority.

  1. From the [Control Panel], open [Administrative Tools], and double-click [Local Security Policy].

  2. Select [Local Policy], from [User Rights Assignment] list, double click [Login as a Service], and check the set user is registered.
    If you are not registered, click [Add User or Group] and add from the displayed screen.

 

Settings for Remote Printer Server Printer

  1. Log in to computer with the user for Remote Printer Server.

  2. From the [Control Panel], open [Devices and Printers]. Right-click the printer you want to use for printing and select [Set as Default Printer].

  3. Place the GP-Pro EX installation DVD-ROM into the DVD-ROM drive of the computer you are using as the printer server.
    When the GP-Pro EX setup screen displays, click [GP Remote Printer Server].

  4. Once installation begins, follow the instructions on the screen.

  5. The following screen displays when installation is complete.
    Set the user name (here, "PrintUser") of the user account for remote printer server and the password, then click [Install].

    • A user-defined "default printer" is used for printing.

    • If a user for the Remote Printer Server is a domain user, check [Use Domain] and enter a domain name in the [Domain] field. If you right-click my computer and select [Properties] to display the [System Properties] window, and select the [Computer Name] tab, you can check the domain name.

  6. Once the GP-Pro EX setup screen is displayed, click [Exit] and close the screen.
