Brief

Pro-face has released a "battery unit" as an optional product for the already-released panel computers, PS-3650A Series. As this battery unit runs on the Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) rechargeable battery, we Pro-face are planning to collect the used battery from the viewpoint of environmental protection and recycling.

Released on the 17th of May, this battery unit is not sold as a single item since it adopts the BTO (Build-To-Order) system; therefore it will be assembled to the main unit according to the customer order.

This new battery unit, only 20mm in depth, will be installed onto the rear surface of the main unit. In the circumstances of a sudden stop of power supply or rapid power voltage reduction that cannot be predicted due to unexpected trouble during factory operation hours, the battery unit provides a back-up power supply and therefore, loss of critical production data can be prevented. Previously, customers had purchased the external battery and connected it to the main unit via the cable. Thanks to this battery unit, installation space will now be saved and no wiring necessary.

Moreover, when power failure is detected, since the process of stand-by, hibernation* or shutdown of Windows can automatically be done, auto shutdown can be performed safely without any operator on site. By monitoring the remaining battery power and abnormal temperatures, in cases when an error has occurred, operations such as shutdown can be performed. This new unit also has a feature that informs you of the replacement timing for the battery, for that the unit is designed to be of easy maintenance.

* "Hibernation" is a feature that saves the task status just before power is off, and the next time when power is on, you can resume from the saved status.

Features

Compact design

The battery unit can be installed to the rear surface of the main unit. The depth of PS-3651A will become only 20mm thicker when the battery unit is installed . In the case of PS-3650A, this battery unit will be installed in the expansion unit, so there is no difference in depth.

Equipped with automatic state transition function when power failure is detected

When power failure is detected, it is possible to automatically change the state of Windows to stand-by, hibernation, or shutdown. Users can set the state of transition and the time to transit.

Battery status monitor

The remaining power, temperature, status (during charging or discharging) and lifetime of the battery can be monitored. Therefore, when the remaining battery power is low, the shutdown operation will automatically commence. Moreover, in circumstances of unusual high or low temperature, the battery charging or discharging will automatically be stopped.

Environmentally friendly support

This battery unit runs on the Nickel-Cadmium rechargeable battery (Ni-Cd). Focusing on the environmental protection and recycling, we are planning to collect the used battery unit. Pro-face will shortly become a member of JBRC (Japan Portable Rechargeable Battery Recycling Center), considering "Law for the Promotion of Effective Utilities of Resources".

This new product is environmentally friendly throughout the world and corresponds to the RoHS Directive-conforming (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances).

Supports the panel computers, "PS-3650A, PS-3651A"

The battery unit can be installed to 2 types of our panel computers - PS-3650A (12.1-inch XGA with Intel^® Celeron^® M 1.3GHz, 1-slot type) and PS-3651A (12.1-inch XGA with Intel ULV Celeron^® M, super slim design).
