Pro-face, a leader of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and factory data communication products, designed and produced by Digital Electronics Corporation, global head office in Osaka, Japan, announces release of a Serial-to-Ethernet Gateway unit, Factory Gateway. Factory Gateway will be available in April 2002.

Factory Gateway is a multiple serial protocol to Ethernet gateway. Users can choose a desired serial protocol to be connected with a Factory Gateway unit from over 50 protocols for controllers used in the industry, such as PLCs, Temperature Controllers and Inverters. Factory Gateway offers easy and flexible data collection systems from various production machines to information management systems via an Ethernet network.
Factory Gateway is ideal for data collection and remote monitoring of production facilities, which do not require advanced operator interfaces, such as Pro-face's GP Series, or existing ones, which do not have a network interface but need one for higher production and quality control.
Network configurations of Factory Gateway can be easily made on the Pro-face's Data Collection Software, Pro-Server with Pro-Studio Ver. 4.0. Rotary switches are equipped on a Factory Gateway unit to set an IP Address. Collected data on Pro-Server can be saved and replayed in a table format for production system analysis and troubleshooting.
The production data can, also, be shared with other PC applications, via ADO, DDE, DLL, OPC and SQL.
In addition to the communication system, the Factory Gateway unit is equipped with on-board screen data memory. Screen data created on the widely used Pro-face's screen editor software, GP-PRO/PB III, can be stored on the Factory Gateway on-board memory for remote monitoring of production status using graphics. The Pro-Server Add-on software, GP-Viewer, offers quick and easy monitoring with the Playback functions of production status via an Intranet at a single point, while the Web Operation software, GP-Web, allows users remote monitoring at multiple points via an intranet or the Internet.
Factory Gateway conforms to CE marking and UL/cUL standards.
