Pro-face, a leader of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and factory data communication products, designed and produced by Digital Electronics Corporation, global head office in Osaka, Japan, is proud to announce the addition of a new series to the Graphic Logic Controller (GLC) family , the GLC2300 Series. Two new models in the GLC2300 Series will be released in December 2001.

Each unit in the GLC Series is an all-in-one HMI with I/O control capability. Each GLC in this series comes with a full graphic display, touch panel and GLC distributed I/O interface. In addition, GLC2300 Series models are equipped with a built-in Ethernet interface, two Serial ports and a CompactFlashTM card socket for data handling, enabling 3-Way connection with I/O devices, serial and Fieldbus equipment and Ethernet data management network.
Single software, GP-PRO/PB III C Package, combines both HMI editing and ladder logic programming. The editor is fully compatible with Pro-face’s widely used operator interface, the GP Series. GLCs use the most popular industrial control language, Ladder Logic, for its control programming. The GP-PRO/PB III C Package is easy-to-use and has very powerful configuration functions. Both parts of the software, the screen editor and logic programming, are fully integrated with many of useful functions such as: an automatic symbol import and drag-and-drop functionality between HMI and control programming. Completed application files can be downloaded together to a target GLC unit, via serial, Ethernet or a CF card.
The GLC2300 models are equipped with 5.7-inch displays, the most compact in the Pro-face’s Graphic Logic Controller series. With the GLC2300 Series addition to the GLC family, users can choose the most suitable model for their applications from a lineup of 12.1-inch, 7.4-inch and 5.7-inch.
Two models of GLC2300 Series are available. GLC2300T is equipped with a 320 x 240 pixel, high-brightness, wide viewing angles, 256-color, TFT display, GLC2300L is equipped with a 320 x 240 pixel, black and white monochrome LCD.
The GLC2300 models are designed to enhance data handling on the factory floor. The built-in CompactFlashTM card socket allows users to access production data, such as logging, recipe, alarm history, screen images upon a trigger event, for data sharing with PC applications and other devices, as well as screen data maintenance.
Over 100 series of controllers, such as PLCs, temperature controllers and inverters, from 26 makers around the world, including various network systems, are supported with GLC2300 Series. The Expansion Serial Port can be programmed for serial device connection, using the D-Script macro language on GP-PRO/PB III software.
The Ethernet interface can be used for manufacturing information management, together with Pro-face’s Data Collection Software, Pro-Server, as well as high-speed communication with PLCs that supportnetwork connectivity. Production data from GLC units and its connected peripheral devices can be transferred to a data collection server on the network in real-time. Pro-Server supports ADO, DDE, DLL, OPC and SQL and eases data connection with popularly used spreadsheets and databases or the customer’s own applications. Furthermore, remote monitoring and optional interaction via Internet or Intranet can be implemented for efficient production control and system maintenance with the Web Operation Software, GP-Web.
To extend its operating temperature range in various industrial environments, the GLC2300 housing body is made of Aluminum die cast for enhanced cooling. Its rear panel has no air-cooling outlet, and provides outstanding protection against dust and foreign particles falling over its internal circuitry. As with the other models of GLC2000 lineup, the front panel of all GLC2300 models is rated IP65f and NEMA 4x/12.
Both models conform to CE marking and UL/cUL standards.
